Welcome

Hello and thank you for taking the time to learn more about me. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Play Therapist with over twenty years of experience in the field. I absolutely love my job and currently see individuals of all ages, as well as couples and families, in my private practice in Addison. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband, our two school-aged children and two dogs. When I am not working you will most likely find me volunteering at my kids’ schools, playing outside with my family, reading a book or enjoying a cup of coffee with a friend.

Education and Training

received my Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Baylor University and my Masters of Education in Counseling from the University of North Texas. In my time at the University of North Texas, I completed distinct coursework and training through the Center for Play Therapy to learn how to work effectively with children using therapeutic play. The Center for Play Therapy is one of the most renowned play therapy programs in the world, which gave me the opportunity to learn from some of the top leaders in the field. I have also received extensive training in a wide variety of issues and obtain continuing education annually.

Experience

I began my clinical experience by completing an internship at a local non profit agency, New Beginnings Center, working with adults, adolescents and children affected by domestic violence. Upon graduating with my Masters Degree, I was hired by New Beginnings Center as a child, adolescent and adult counselor. I worked at New Beginning Center for five years helping victims survive and heal from domestic violence as well as past traumas. I also enjoyed leading therapy groups for children and adults and had the opportunity to  provide supervision for masters level interns. I also provided parenting skills for clients and conducted trainings for volunteers and new hires. After leaving New Beginning Center, I was immediately hired by another agency, Victims Outreach, to provide counseling services to people of all ages effected by violent crime.

At Victims Outreach, I provided individual and family counseling services as well as parenting skills and trainings on multiple topics involving crisis intervention and trauma support. Before entering private practice, I also worked for Galaxy Counseling Center where I provided general counseling for all ages for a variety of issues and disorders and  served as their play therapy supervisor.

I have also served on the Gifted and Talented Advisory Committee for our school district since 2017 and love working with the GT community. I have been in private practice since 2013.
